On October 5, 2023, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), in collaboration with the National Commission of Senior Citizens and the Office for the Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA), organized a successful free medical and dental mission for senior citizens in Pateros.
This initiative was held in celebration of Elderly Filipino Week, as proclaimed by Proclamation 470 of 1994, which designates the first week of October as a time to honor and highlight the contributions and welfare of senior citizens.
The event held at the AMC Gym, Barangay San Roque, Pateros, brought together various government agencies and organizations, including PHILHEALTH, PAGCOR, Department of Health (DOH), Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP), Philippine National Police (PNP), National Nutrition Council, National Center for Geriatric Health, Nutritionist-Dieticians Association of the Philippines, Culion Foundation Inc., MCKS Caring Heart, and Rotary District 3810. These organizations played a vital role in providing free medical and dental services to the senior citizens of Pateros.
A total of 174 individuals were able to benefit from free medical and dental consultations, as well as receive free medicines.
Meanwhile, Pateros Mayor Miguel “Ike” Ponce thanked the PCSO and other organizations participating in the free medical and dental mission.
“Sa lahat ng magagaling na volunteer doctors, nurses, at health workers, ako at aking buong constituent’s ay buong pusong nagpapasalamat sa inyong lahat. Ipagpatuloy po ninyo ang ganitong klaseng serbisyo para sa ating mga kababayan lalo na sa ating mga senior citizen.”
